Liz has always sought out balance in life in everything that she does so being a balanced dog trainer comes natural to her. Throughout her entire life she has always owned dogs and been an animal lover and avid equestrian. After getting an incredibly cute mixed red bone Catahoula puppy for her youngest son, her family quickly found themselves with a challenging situation, resource guarding, overly protective and not very social, which lead her to a new journey of becoming a dog trainer and wanting to give back and help owners and their dogs after overcoming her personal canine challenge. She became a student under a DEA certified, world competitor, canine behaviorist. She spent 4 years under his close supervision. She then developed diverse expertise and learned to work with a broad range of dogs, ranging in temperament from severe behavior issues to pleasant household pets. She has participated in many training seminars by industry leaders to further her education and skills as a dog trainer and to better understand our faithful
companions. She have trained 100’s of dogs from NYC to the Carolina’s.
Her broad range of skills and ability to teach, help dog owners and their dogs reach their goals of either basic obedience, modifying the more common behavior challenges in your home and public environments to competition. Training and modifying common puppy behavior to more complex adolescent to adult behavior modification is one of her specialties. She enjoys training for Schutzhund competitions and training service dogs but the real gratification comes from seeing her owners bear that smile after they have completed one of her training programs and they realize they now have their obedient partner willing to go almost anywhere with them confidently. Seeing a dog go from unsure and unconfident or overly reactive when Liz and her clients start their session, to being excited to see Liz and happy and excited to start their training sessions, and comfortable to leave to mom or dad for a time, knowing all is good with Liz and mom and dad are coming back in a bit.
She is very excited to be part of the Hidden Gem Team because they share the same values and vision on customizing our services and sharing our education with our clients and their dogs’ individual needs. Not to mention, our facility is simply gorgeous nestled on over 300 acres in Hunterdon County with inside and outside training areas and beautiful trails to take a nature walk after training!
Her balanced approach to training helps foster and develop a better connection between the owner and their dog though identifying their individual training needs and relationship bonding.
